Orascom Telecom appoints banglalink’s new Chief Executive Officer

Cairo - Orascom Telecom Holding (“OTH”) (ORTE) announces the appointment, effective January 1, 2013, of Ziad Shatara to the position of Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of banglalink, reporting to OTH Group CEO, Ahmed Abou Doma.

Mr. Shatara joined Wind Telecommunications in February 2008 as IT Director. Two years later, in 2010, he was appointed to the position of Chief Technology Officer. Prior to joining Wind, Mr. Shatara accumulated regional and international experience exceeding 17 years of proficiency in building, running and expanding operations in telecommunications, cellular business, fixed and broadband networks integration technology. He has additional professional expertise in the fields of IT, Customer Service and Retail Operations.

Mr. Shatara started his career in the IT industry in 1991, and then moved to Telecommunications, in particular GSM in 1994 when the first cellular network (Fastlink) started up in Jordan. From 1994 to 2007 he worked in many regional networks in the Middle and the Far East. Mr. Shatara holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, which he received at the Technical University of Budapest in Hungary.

Ahmed Abou Doma commented: “I would like to extend a warm welcome to Mr. Shatara and wish him the best of luck in his new role. The accumulated experience that Mr. Shatara brings from a diverse range of markets will prove to be of great added value to Banglalink and to the Bangladeshi market in general.
